During March 2025, Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) organized accredited regional trainings "Accessibility of public facilities and services" in Belgrade, Šabac, Kragujevac and Niš. Trainings were attended by 68 participants, building inspectors, employed in urban planning departments, in investment departments and public companies for urban planning.
With this trainings, SCTM intended to bring the issue of accessibility closer to the employees who deal with planning and construction in local self-governments. The following topics were covered: Universal design or Design for all, basics of accessibility in international documents and conventions, as well as the legal framework in the Republic of Serbia that regulates accessibility. Participants were introduced with a large number of positive and negative examples from practice, and an important part of the training was the accessibility of services and information. Participants had the opportunity to expand their knowledge on responsibilities of local self-government when it comes to creating a barrier-free environment.
