The Mayor of Babušnica Municipality, Ivana Stojičić, participated in the Fifth Southeast European Women Mayors Forum, held on 1 and 2 October 2025 in Istanbul, organized by the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of Southeast Europe (NALAS) and the Union of Marmara Region Municipalities (MMU). On behalf of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM), Milena Radomirović, Director of the Sector for Advocacy and LSG Capacity Building at the SCTM, participated in the Forum.
The Forum brought together around 50 female mayors and presidents of municipalities from 12 countries in the region, with the aim of exchanging experiences, strengthening cooperation and promoting gender equality in local governance. Participants discussed the role of women leaders in peacebuilding processes, European integration, and the contribution of local communities to achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
On the second day of the meeting, Ivana Stojičić played a significant role in the closing of the Forum, presenting key conclusions and recommendations, with a focus on improving women's participation in local decision-making and creating inclusive policies.
The Forum was held as part of the "Marmara Urban Forum (MARUF 2025)" event, which brings together numerous experts, city representatives, and international partners in the field of sustainable urban development.
