Roma students received modern teaching aids

As part of the project "Multiculturalism and Antidiscrimination in  Subotica", on September 3, 2020, the City of Subotica handed over  projectors and interactive boards for five primary schools and the Roma  Educational Center. Schools Matko Vukovic, Secenji Istvan, Djuro Salaj,  Hunjadi Janos and Vuk Karadzic received modern teaching aids, in which a  large number of Roma students attend classes.

"The project is  being implemented within the program "EU Support to Roma Inclusion -  Strengthening Local Communities for Roma Inclusion", implemented by the  Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and funded by the  European Union with 60 thousand euros", said Ilija Djukanovic, City  Council member Subotica in charge of social protection. He stated that  in addition to this donation of equipment, the workshops will be  organized for teachers and children in local communities with the Roma  population, that the magazine "Mosaic" has been prepared, as well as the  "Guide to Multiculturalism" intended for schools.

"The project is  the result of the work of the Council for the Improvement of Roma  Positions, formed in 2016, and since then we have adopted the LAP for  the Improvement of Roma Positions until 2021, we formed a mobile team  and received support from the Council of Europe through the "Romacted"  program. The City will continue to provide strong support to the Roma  community in the field of education, culture, but also social and health  care", Djukanovic added.

The City of Subotica is also cooperating  on this project with the Roma Education Center, which was also given a  projector, a board, and a laptop in order to improve cooperation with  the civil sector.
