SCTM Awarded the Raška Charter for 2026

With a formal ceremony and the presentation of the municipality’s highest awards, Raška marked the 181st anniversary of its founding on 17 September. The event highlighted the achievements of the previous period, as well as projects expected to contribute to the municipality’s further development and improve the quality of life of its citizens.

Raška Municipality Day was celebrated in the presence of representatives of national and local institutions, neighbouring cities and municipalities, public enterprises, institutions, and numerous guests. The President of the Municipality, Darko Milićević, stated that 17 September provides an opportunity to reflect on what has been accomplished and to present plans for the period ahead. He emphasised that investments had focused on projects with a direct impact on citizens’ everyday lives, including roads, municipal infrastructure, education, healthcare, and public services.

The Raška Charter for 2026 was awarded to the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities – National Association of Local Authorities in Serbia (SCTM) in recognition of its longstanding cooperation with the Municipality of Raška and its support for the development of local self-government, good governance, local economic development, and social inclusion. The award was received by SCTM Secretary General Nikola Tarbuk.

“For us, this award is truly a great honour. As an organisation that has brought together local authorities since 1953. and has worked closely with all of them, receiving recognition from those who founded our organisation and continue to constitute its membership is a source of particular pride. However, this award reflects not only the contribution of our organisation, but equally the contribution of every individual working in local self-government, local administration, institutions with which we cooperate, and civil society organisations involved in the projects we support,” Tarbuk stated.
