Second online Partner Meeting of the REHEATEAST project
Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) participated on 24 September 2025 in the online partner meeting of the project “REHEATEAST – Building local partnerships to reduce the demand for fossil fuels in district heating systems in the Eastern Danube Region”, implemented under the Danube Region Programme.
The meeting was dedicated to exchanging experiences and presenting the project’s results, with a focus on optimization models, pilot projects, and policy recommendations for improving district heating and cooling (DHC) systems. Partners discussed the methodology of the developed optimization models, gap analysis of current practices and policies, as well as the transnational application of lessons learned.
Special attention was given to issues of energy, financial and climate efficiency in the transformation of DHC systems, joint policy dialogue, and the improvement of methodologies. Discussions also covered the challenges and obstacles faced by partners in implementing pilot activities, as well as ways of representing the project at professional events.
The meeting concluded with an agreement on the next steps in the continuation of project implementation.
The REHEATEAST project is being implemented in cooperation with 11 project partners and 25 associated strategic partners from 11 countries of the Eastern Danube Region. The Pannon European Group of Territorial Cooperation from Hungary is the lead partner. Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) participates as one of the partners from Serbia, while the associated partners from Serbia are the Municipality of Priboj and Energetika doo Kragujevac.
