Continuation of support to the City of Pirot in establishing a Smart city

On October 17, Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and the city administration of Pirot gathered representatives of institutions, public utility companies and economy at the training center in Pirot (Center for Employment and Entrepreneurship) to hear their suggestions on best ways for directing development of the city of Pirot towards a Smart city.

In accordance with the Agreement signed in March of this year, SCTM continues to provide support to the City of Pirot in creating the basis for establishing a Smart city. After determining and analyzing the initial situation, the identification of goals and measures for the introduction of a smart city continued in 6 areas - smart economy, smart administration, smart environment, smart mobility, smart living and smart local community.

One of possible ways to describe a Smart city is the definition according to which it is a local community that, thanks to data analysis, effectively uses its physical infrastructure, in which there is effective cooperation between local self-government and citizens through open and transparent processes, e-participation and e-governance, and which proactively adapts to the changing environment with innovations.

In the coming period, the citizens of Pirot will also be able to contribute to development of the Strategy, for which an online survey has been prepared on how they see further development of the city with the help of modern technologies.
