Promotion of innovative solutions for the development of cultural tourism in Bač, Sremski Karlovci, and Irig
The Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities (SCTM) is organizing the final presentation of innovative solutions for the development of cultural tourism in Bač, Sremski Karlovci, and Irig, which will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Cultural Station "Svilara", Đorđe Rajkovića 6/B in Novi Sad, starting at 12:00. This gathering will be organized in a hybrid format, i.e. live and via the ZOOM platform, with simultaneous translation in English.

SCTM, in cooperation with the municipalities of Bač, Sremski Karlovci, and Irig, in partnership with 14 other international organizations, received support from the EU Research and Innovation Program HORIZON 2020 for the project "BeCulTOUR: More than cultural tourism", which concerns the improvement and innovative development in the spheres of cultural, historical, religious, and natural heritage and tourism in six European areas - among which is Vojvodina, i.e. the mentioned municipalities.
As part of this innovative project, as a form of support for the development of sustainable cultural tourism, the international project consortium announced a Call for Proposals in 2022 for the best innovative solutions for circular cultural tourism in six European areas, including Bač, Sremske Karlovci, and Irig. A total of 35 applications were received for this international competition, eight of which are from Serbia, which is the largest number from a single project member country. The commission for the selection of the best innovative solutions for the development of cultural tourism in Bač, Sremski Karlovci, and Irig, which included representatives of 13 relevant institutions and organizations from the national, provincial, and local levels - chose three first-ranked proposals: FRUŠKING 8x4x4, BAČ BY TOUCH and Cultural overload - Irig road. The members of these three teams participated in the international hackathon-competition in Brussels in September 2022, as well as in the four-month acceleration program.
The invitation to participate in this gathering, as well as support in the implementation of these solutions, is addressed to representatives of the public and economic sector in the fields of: culture and heritage protection, tourism, cultural and creative industry, digitalization, promotion of socially responsible business and entrepreneurial and technological innovations, as well as local actors in the municipalities of Bač, Sremski Karlovci and Irig.
